After much, that I finally made the leap from PC to Mac and thrilled. You are always “just work” No, but it usually does. Often go wireless, that never happens with your computer. Sometimes he refuses to stop and my printer is only a year, working with him. I run Windows in a virtual machine on it, as some software is compatible with Mac OS and is sometimes slow. Everything has been said, however, I must admit that I love. All these things are very small and is generally more reliable and stable. The operating system has never crashed after two months, and is much easier to use. It ‘very light and comfortable, and just a bit’ more “fun.” If you’re considering making the transition would say go for it. (I’m still trying to find myself right mouse button, though)

I purchased this computer for my daughter to use for school. It replaced a MacBook from 2006, the older computer was still working fine, and we were able to sell that one to partially defray the cost of this new one. I have purchased many Mac portable computers over the last 15 years, and this one is the best one yet. My overriding review comment is that I have had no troubles with my Mac laptops (or desktops, for that matter) over the years, and I always look forward to replacing old devices with the latest that Apple has to offer. Exceedingly high quality, reliable and trouble free.

Windows user makes the jump!

I have been looking at switching to a Mac for my personal laptop for several years but the cost always delayed my decision. Well I finally hit the order button on the 15.4″ MacBook Pro and can’t be happier. The quality of the build is outstanding and I love how smooth the OS and applications run. It actually feels like a single product which I know is the point of a Mac but it is so refreshing. I’ve spent a week getting to know the OS and built in apps and have found it easy to learn. It is funny that I have to learn to do things the natural way (such as the finger controls on the touch pad). 

Figuring out how to transition over from Quicken on my PC is still a challenge. I’ve been looking at iBank and may give it a shot. I just ordered iWork so I can migrate off Excel/Word/PowerPoint. 

Pros: 
1) top of the line construction 
2) stable OS 
3) ease of use working with pictures 
4) smooth integration with my camera, printer and Internet apps 

Cons: 
1) cost is a bit high (but snagged a good deal on Amazon) 
2) while the shell is nice and sleek, the edge is a bit sharp and can rub on your wrist if you are at a bad angle 

Overall I am VERY HAPPY

Apple has done it again

This is my second laptop from apple and I love it. 

To be clear, I have the 2.66 15 inch model with an ANTI-Glare screen. 

Case and Keyboard- 

Pros: Apple really did a great job designing this laptop. The black keys are beautiful and match the rest of the laptop. The case looks and even feels great. The Anti glare screen is the same color as the rest of the laptop (Aluminum) but there is a beautiful black trim around it. When closing the laptop magnets keep the screen firmly closed, a really nice touch. 

Cons: The only really con I can think of is the placement of the USB and Firewire ports. They are all on the same side which becomes very cluttered when having multiple connections. Personally, I constantly have every port used so this is somewhat of a problem. The positives definitely outweigh this small negative. 

Anti Glare Screen- 

Pros: Does it’s job, no reflection and still works great. 

Cons: Nothing, its only $50 for the upgrade, do it. 

Performance- 

Pros: I am a video editor and this thing flies whether you are using final cut pro or avid. 

Cons: None 

Trackpad- 

Pros: This trackpad is really fun. Apple really has the best technology when it comes touch surfaces. Expose feature works great and the pad is fully customizable with 3rd party software. 

Cons: Sure, its great that you can push down anywhere on the pad, but it takes some effort to do this. 

Operating System- 

Pros: Most agree that Mac OsX is the strongest operating system out there. But if you prefer to use both, bootcamp works FLAWLESSLY. (other than having your typical windows problems) 

Cons: This is obviously a very subjective area. Some might say the lack of program integration is a negative, but bootcamp solves that. Some might say apple doesn’t many programs, but search the web for a couple minutes and you’ll find otherwise. So I can honestly say the OS has no significant cons. 

Customer Service- 

Pros: Apple has the best customer service in the world. As long as you are nice to them they will take care of you. I would highly recommend the 3 year warranty because like anything, things break. 

Cons: Very expensive to have things fixed (by apple) without the warranty. You wouldn’t drive a car without insurance, just buy the warranty. 

Overall: Incredible laptop, incredible performance, you will not be disappointed.

MacBook Air Display Fix Update Released by Apple

Apple has released MacBook Air firmware update aims to fix display problems. The problems were first reported just after launch with users reporting flickering horizontal lines on both models with displays sometimes becoming discoloured after the MacBook Air would wake from sleep. Many users have been complaining about problems with the new MacBook Air laptop since it was released a couple of months ago and Apple have now responded to the problem.

The temporary fix was to just close the lid down and reopen the lid which either put the MacBook Air to sleep, hence reloading it back up, or rebooting it. This kind of fix was just a temporary measure till Apple could get the drivers right.

Those drivers are now ready in an update and once installed, should fix those instances (perhaps rare instances) that this happens to your MacBook Air. The drivers support both of the new models of MacBook Air which means the 11 and 13 inch models. You can grab the updates by checking for updates in the Apple menu at the top of the screen.

The MacBook Air EFI Update will update the EFI firmware on your notebook computer. Your computer’s power cord must be connected and plugged into a working power source. When your MacBook Air restarts, a gray screen will appear with a status bar to indicate the progress of the update. It will take several minutes for the update to complete.
